Artist
I studied for a BA (hons) Fine Painting degree at Wimbledon School of Art 2001-2004. After graduating I went on to teach art & design in a FE college while also completing a teacher training course. I have taught adult life drawing classes for several years and alongside this I also work as an art technician. My interest in the urbanscape is expressed through different mediums. Process is a really important part of my investigation to make art, it’s the part I enjoy the most. Through experimenting with a wide range of mediums my aim is to make my art more engaging for the spectator and for the individual viewing my art to feel a personal connection with the images I make. I like to think that these urbanscapes would be looked upon in the same way you would look at a pretty scenic landscape. I believe a gritty rundown looking urbanscape can also be viewed as something of beauty if you see its poetry, and if you do take the time to stop and look to see its aesthetics then its mundane and ordinariness suddenly doesn’t seem so mundane or ordinary anymore.
